Soline on Krk – a village on a quiet bay

Soline lies in the north-east of the island of Krk, in the municipality of Dobrinj, on a long, sheltered bay. Not a holiday resort with a promenade and beach bars, but a small village without through traffic – with shallow, calm water that warms up early in summer. We have lived here for more than twenty years and want to show you what makes Soline special.

The bay and its healing mud

Soline Bay is shallow and slopes gently – ideal for children and for anyone who prefers to wade in slowly. It is best known for its healing mud: for generations, the fine sea mud has been credited with a soothing effect on skin and joints. Many guests apply it, let it dry in the sun and then wash it off in the sea. The beach with healing mud is about 700 metres from our house, roughly a 10-minute leisurely walk.

The way to the beach

The nearest beach is about a 5-minute walk from the house. The way to the beach is downhill and the way back uphill – so allow a minute more. You walk along a road without a pavement, where the speed limit is 30 km/h; with children and pets we still recommend caution.
