My Heartfelt Recommendation for a Relaxed Lunch or Dinner by the Sea – Restaurant Slamni
There are restaurants you visit once out of curiosity, and there are ones you keep coming back to for a simple reason – because you know you'll eat well and feel welcome every single time.
For me, Restaurant Slamni is exactly one of those places.
Although it's located on the grounds of the campsite of the same name, the restaurant is open to everyone and has long been known among locals as a place where you can get a quality meal at very fair prices. That's exactly why we often visit even when we have no other reason to go to the campsite.
What I like is that there's no unnecessary fuss here. The menu is simple with a coastal touch, the presentation is very tidy – with cloth napkins, which is a rarity these days – the food isn't just thrown together but nicely and tastefully plated, and the service is professional and friendly. The staff always leave the impression that they genuinely care about guests leaving happy.
If someone asks me what I'd recommend to start a meal, my answer is almost always the same – Adriatic mussels. Freshly prepared, with a piece of bread to mop up the last drops of the delicious sauce, they're an excellent start to the rest of your lunch or dinner. It's one of those dishes that best reminds you why people love Mediterranean cuisine.
Fish lovers will find several fresh dishes here, and I particularly like one small detail that shows how much the restaurant cares about its guests. If you order a whole fish, the waiter will carefully bone it for you right at the table. That kind of service isn't found everywhere these days, and it's especially appreciated by guests who aren't used to eating whole Adriatic fish.
There are also plenty of other Mediterranean delicacies on offer, homemade pasta, gnocchi, pizzas, and meat dishes prepared from quality local ingredients. Some of the vegetables come from their own organic garden, which you can taste in the freshness of the salads and side dishes.
Pizza is one of the most popular choices throughout the day, especially among families with children. Many campers also make good use of the takeaway option. After a full day at the beach or on a trip, it's often much easier to bring a ready-made dinner back to their camper or pitch than to light the stove and heat up the space in the middle of summer heat.
The restaurant's atmosphere is just as pleasant as its food. It's close to the sea, has a calm setting, sits near the car park, and has a dedicated entrance for guests with pushchairs. It's easy to be lulled into a relaxed mood here, which means you often end up staying longer than planned. It's a place where you can enjoy a leisurely lunch with family or dinner with friends, without any rush.
On this page, I only recommend restaurants I enjoy visiting myself. Restaurant "Slamni" is one of them, precisely because it's managed to strike a good balance for years between the quality of the food, professional service, and fair prices. Not every dish has to be a culinary masterpiece for a guest to leave satisfied. Sometimes it's enough for the ingredients to be fresh, the cooking to be good, the staff friendly, and the atmosphere relaxed.
If, during your stay in Soline or Klimno, you're looking for a place where you can confidently enjoy a good lunch or dinner, I'm convinced Restaurant Slamni will meet your expectations – just as it has for us, every single time we've visited, for years.
Das Restaurant verfügt außerdem über eine großzügige Terrasse direkt am Meer in der Bucht Soline, auf der Sie zu Mittag oder zu Abend essen und dabei den Blick auf den Strand und den Campingplatz genießen können. Im Sommer empfiehlt es sich, einen Tisch auf der Terrasse im Voraus zu reservieren, insbesondere an Wochenenden, an denen das Restaurant nicht nur von den Gästen des Campingplatzes, sondern auch von zahlreichen Besuchern aus anderen Teilen der Insel frequentiert wird.
As an accompaniment to your meal, it's worth trying the local wine "Vrbnička Žlahtina", which pairs perfectly with the seafood and fish specialties on the menu. The restaurant is open throughout the season, from spring to autumn, making it a great choice for lunch after a morning swim or a relaxed dinner at sunset.
