My Warm Recommendation for a Tasty Meal After a Swim – Bistro Pod Bagremom
After a few hours in the sun and the sea, most guests ask themselves the same question: "Where can we get a good meal?"
If you're staying in Soline, the answer is simple. You don't need to get in the car or go looking for a restaurant somewhere else. Just take a short walk from the beach and grab a seat at Bistro Pod Bagremom – the only place in Soline where you can enjoy a proper grilled meal while soaking up the relaxed atmosphere that only a small seaside spot can offer.
What I love about this place isn't just the food. It's the feeling of being somewhere people come back to year after year. In summer you'll find swimmers fresh from the beach, families with kids after a quick, tasty lunch, cyclists taking a break, and plenty of locals from the surrounding villages. Whenever I see locals eating here regularly too, that's always the best recommendation as far as I'm concerned.
Many older visitors still remember when this place was run by the legendary Vojo. For years, Pod Bagremom was an essential stop for anyone spending summer in Soline. Today it's run by Rada, who has been part of this place for years and keeps alive everything guests came to love about it. Always smiling, hardworking and organised, she manages to keep that friendly atmosphere where you don't feel like just another guest, but like someone who's genuinely welcome.
The menu is exactly what many people crave after a day at the beach. The smell of the grill drifts across the whole area, and the menu features classic dishes almost everyone loves – ćevapčići, skewers, chicken, sausages and delicious grilled ribs. For those who prefer something lighter, there's grilled vegetables and fish, and I'm especially glad that sardines are still on the menu. They used to be practically a staple along the coast, but these days they're getting harder to find, so I'm always happy to spot them on a menu.
If you're only after something small, you can easily order a portion of crispy fries, which always go down well with the youngest guests. It's exactly this simplicity that's one of the reasons this place works so well. It's not trying to be a fancy restaurant or something it's not. This is the place if you're after good food, generous portions and a pleasant atmosphere without unnecessary formality.
One of the big advantages of Pod Bagremom is its location. It sits right on the beach, so you can wander over for lunch in your swimsuit and be back in the water in no time. Parents will have no trouble finding ice cream for the kids, while adults enjoy a cold beer, a gemišt or another refreshing drink with lunch before carrying on with their summer day.
Of course, everyone has their own taste and their own favourite dish. That's exactly why I always encourage my guests to try the places I recommend for themselves. But if you ask me where I'd go in Soline after a swim for a simple, tasty and affordable meal, the answer is almost always the same.
Bistro Pod Bagremom isn't a place that draws you in with big advertising campaigns or slick modern marketing. Its greatest strengths are the people who run it, its long tradition, and the fact that guests and locals alike keep coming back. In a world where restaurants often change from one season to the next, that kind of consistency speaks louder than any advertisement.
That's why this recommendation is on my page. I didn't write it because anyone asked me to, but because I believe it'll help many of my guests discover a place where they can eat well, take a break from the sun, and maybe – like many before them – find themselves wanting to come back on their next stay in Soline.
